Official Impact Story & Executive Showcase Narrative

Company: TIMTRA Poultry Farm Limited (Uganda)
Target: Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) 2026 Showcase Submission
| “Did you know that feed costs consume up to 70% of a poultry farmer’s budget in East Africa? At TIMTRA Poultry Farm, we have broken that bottleneck completely.” |
1.0 Our Business Model: Closed-Loop, Vertically Integrated Hub-and-Spoke
We operate a vertically integrated, hub-and-spoke agribusiness model in Uganda that structurally eliminates vulnerability to extreme input cost inflation through an innovative, closed-loop value chain. TIMTRA pairs regenerative poultry farming, feed milling, hatching, and professional broiler processing with a powerful smallholder outgrower network.
We systematically divert biological mass away from open municipal dumping sites, upcycling regional organic waste to synthesize high-nutrient Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) protein. By replacing more than 60% of imported soy or marine fishmeal components with our high-quality, in-house alternative proteins, we slash production costs while structurally reducing our outgrowers’ carbon footprints by 40%.
2.0 What We Have Built: Infrastructure, Employment, and Community Traction
Backed by the foundation laid with the Tony Elumelu Foundation, we have transitioned from a conceptual framework into a fully operational ecosystem. Today, we have successfully deployed a 1,000-bird capacity hub in Kakoni Busiika Luwerodistrict, created over 85 direct and indirect jobs specifically tailored for women and youth, and connected 53 active outgrower farmers directly into our centralized network of technical training, input credit, and guaranteed market-take back loops.
Furthermore, to systematically secure our pipeline of next-generation commercial farmers, we are finalizing strategic negotiations with Global Harvest Secondary School to formalize and launch our specialized Farmer Business School (FBS) curriculum in Wakiso District. This initiative will institutionalize agricultural entrepreneurship among East African youth.
3.0 Our Next Strategy: Aggressive Commercial Scaling (2026–2029)
With our core circular infrastructure actively proven and operational, TIMTRA is positioned for rapid regional replication. Over the next three years, we are launching our next commercial phase to scale operations to integrate 1,000 cumulative smallholder outgrowers and drive UGX 1.15 billion in cumulative ecosystem revenue.
4.0 Key Milestone: From Conception to Circular Ecosystem
I am immensely proud to have scaled TIMTRA from an early-stage concept into a fully functioning, 1,000-bird circular poultry hub that provides real economic resilience, commercial input security, and stable livelihoods to over 53 active outgrower families.
5.0 TEF Support: The Catalytic Foundation of Our Operations
The Tony Elumelu Foundation was critical to TIMTRA’s structural development. The initial US$5,000 seed grant directly funded the capital expenditures required to establish our foundation poultry operations in Kakoni Busiika Luwero District. Beyond the financial capital, the rigorous TEF training curriculum strengthened my executive skills in strategic planning, financial modeling, corporate governance, market-entry strategy, and institutional investment communication.
6.0 Why Being Part of this Occasion in Nigeria is Deeply Meaningful to Me
Participating in this prestigious gathering in Nigeria would mark a profound personal and professional milestone, serving as a living demonstration of Africapitalism’s tangible impact across borders. It provides a unique global platform to cross-pollinate ideas, build syndication networks with fellow TEF alumni, and engage with institutional investors and partners who can accelerate TIMTRA’s regional expansion across East Africa.
I will attend this showcase not merely as a historic beneficiary, but as an active, scale-ready entrepreneur completely committed to building competitive African agribusinesses that eliminate structural waste, generate localized employment, and build bulletproof regional value chains.
